Monochrome outfits are my favorite kind of outfits. There’s something about putting on a look that matches from head-to-toe that makes me feel extremely sophisticated and pulled together. Although I love monochrome outfits year-round, my favorite time to rock them is around the holidays.
Why the holidays? Typically it’s cold out. One key piece of rocking monochrome is mixing different textures (sweaters, velvet pants, fur, silk, satin, etc.) and it’s just easier when the temps are a bit cooler.
To inspire you to create your own monochrome outfits this holiday season I pulled together three of my all-time favorites below. These outfits range from last month to a couple of years ago, but I was able to find either the same or similar pieces at every price point so that they can easily be recreated.
Monochrome aside, this is one of my favorite outfits that I’ve ever worn. I’m serious. I originally rented it via Rent the Runway (skirt here, sweater here), but I think about buying it directly from Club Monaco (skirt here, sweater here) nearly every day. The combination of the skirt and sweater, their different textures and perfect honey gold color come together to create an extremely elegant, chic outfit.
Although I love the gold/honey color of the outfit above, it’s very easy to replicate in any color! Bias cut skirts in silk or satin are extremely easy to find these days, so pick a color you like, throw on a matching oversized sweater and you’re good to go!

This outfit is an oldie but a goodie. It’s also my first photo that was ever reposted by a brand on Instagram. J.Crew posted this on their feed and I still remember freaking out about it when I got the notification.
Anyway… I still love how these black velvet pants compliment the turtleneck. You could easily wear this to the office with flats then change into heels for a night out. Originally I decided to add a hair scarf here as a pop of color, but if I were to do it again I’d probably add a black satin or velvet headband.
I can’t find the exact style of these J.Crew pants that I bought a couple of years ago, but I’m obsessed with this version that they currently have — love the wider leg! If you’re not into the wide leg I found a more tapered version on a crazy sale via Banana Republic Factory.

I love this navy monochrome look because it’s comfortable but nice enough for the holiday gatherings. Like I said, the key to styling an outfit that is all one color is texture — and this faux fur scarf does the trick. I shared this outfit last year, but knew I needed to include it in this roundup.
I had trouble finding the exact scarf in navy (found it here in black) but I’ve included some similar options, along with similar pants, flats and my exact turtleneck below!
