A New Navy Dress

With Labor Day behind us there’s a lot of talk out there right now about transitioning one’s closet. As much as I love summer, I am excited to join in on that conversation because fall clothes are definitely more my speed. I started to pick up a few pieces here and there as fall clothing started to pop up in stores the last couple of weeks, and this J.Crew navy dress is my favorite purchase thus far.

If I’m being honest, I think this dress is so chic. The length, the color, the piping — it’s actually the perfect navy dress. Not to mention it’s also a merino wool-and-cotton blend which makes it a great ~summer-to-fall transition~ piece. I’m 5’7 and this dress hits right below the knee.

Here I’ve paired it with my Marc Fisher nude pumps (previously seen here and here), but I’m even more excited to style this dress with a pair of heeled, knee-high boots. I think the long dress/high boot combo will be perfect for fall.

To round out the look I added a J.Crew bag I picked up last year (they put out a similar version this year in the same color — see it here) and a pair of gold hoops. Once the temps drop I plan on adding a suede jacket over this and some boots like I mentioned earlier. I love that I’ll be able to wear this piece now and into/throughout fall — which is what I always look for when shopping around this time of year.

I’m planning to share a few more transitional outfits/pieces over the next couple of weeks so if there is anything particular you want to see (tops, jeans, shoes, etc.) let me know in the comments!
