Going Green

I’ve been excited to share this outfit on the blog since me and Julia Dags shot it a couple of weeks ago. Since then, I have seen this color EVERYWHERE. I feel like all throughout NYFW on Instagram all of my favorite bloggers were posting pictures in this color and I was so excited about it. In all seriousness this is my favorite color — and a color that I feel like is a part of my overall brand. If you’re following me on Instagram you’ve probably noticed that I love to weave this color into my feed, and one day, when I’m ready to update my website, I have a feeling this color will be a big part of the theme.

Speaking of themes, I feel like I am starting to find my own identity in this crazy blogging world. Recently I’ve been posting and sharing what I love and am inspired by and I’m feeling more passionate than ever about what I am creating. For a while I feel like I was sucked into trying to share and post what other people would like (literally like on Instagram LOL), but recently I have been posting what inspires me and what I am inspired by and it has made a world of difference. It sounds a little silly but I had to remind myself why I started Emily Lucille in the first place. I didn’t start it to make money or to get 1,500 likes on a post of a sweater that 800 other people have, I started it as a creative outlet for myself.

I’m not sure if this post is a result of me feeling sentimental because my 27th birthday is this weekend or because these photos and this outfit are some of my favorites to date, but I’m feeling really, really excited about emilylucille.com. There are a lot of ups and downs to starting your own blog, and what people don’t always mention is how you will, almost immediately, start to compare yourself to others. It’s extremely hard not to. You’re constantly on your phone engaging and trying to grow your following all while looking at 500 other bloggers beautiful photos and comparing yourself to them. But recently, I’ve come to terms with the fact that I have my own opinions, style, voice, etc. and there are people out there who appreciate that too! If you’re not inspired by what you’re doing why are you still doing it? Anyway… here’s my outfit…

For starters this top is everything. It’s so comfortable and flattering. I have a co-workers who have it in black and white and honestly I might buy both. It’s super versatile and you could wear this on date night or a night out with friends with black jeans or denim and it would look amazing. Also, the tie is so good. You can wear it how I have it styled or you can tie it in a bow and it looks equally as nice!

Although I said this top looks great on it’s own, I think it looks even better with the matching bottoms. As you all know I’m obsessed with monochrome, so when I saw this outfit on Zara I knew I needed to have it. Getting ready is never easier than it is when you’re wearing a matching set. If you’re loving the black or white versions of this top, the pants also come in both colors! I paired this outfit with a Fossil purse that happened to match perfectly. I’ll be wearing this outfit when Bill and I go out to dinner for my birthday on Saturday and I can’t wait!

Love, love, love this post! Since we started blogging around the same time, I can completely relate. I’m looking forward to discussing more tomorrow!

ALSO – totally thought your outfit was a jumpsuit! Either way, I LOVE it!
