Recently I’ve been brainstorming ways to share all of the restaurants, shops, breakfast places, etc. that I love to go in the Connecticut/NYC area. After some thought, I decided I would start the series Places I’m Loving, where I will share four or five spots that I’ve checked out recently and think you guys should too!
The past couple of weeks I visited a few new (or at least to me) places that I really enjoyed. From dinner spots to gardening shops, I feel like I have found a few local gems.
1. Something Natural – Greenwich, CT
This little sandwich shop from Nantucket has made it’s way down to Greenwich, CT, and I couldn’t be happier! I’ve been twice now and both times I have not been disappointed. Their sandwich menu is full of vegetarian options (which is great for me!), and I love their selection of iced teas — the half + half is my favorite! So far I’ve had Sheila’s Favorite and the Avocado, Cheddar & Chutney sandwiches and both were delicious! In addition to lunch breaks, these sandwiches would be perfect to throw in a cooler for a day at the beach!
This South Norwalk restaurant has been around for quite a while and has a great reputation. Bill surprised me with dinner here last Saturday night, and I am still dreaming about the lobster roll I ordered. Everyone you talk to loves this place and it’s easy to understand why. The cocktails were phenomenal and the food was even better. Match is definitely the perfect place for a date night!
3. The Gardener’s Center and Florist – Darien, CT
Last weekend Bill and I were given a plant (first of many plants we will have in this place if it’s up to me!) as a housewarming gift for our new apartment and thus needed to find something to put it in. We drove around to a few stores looking for the perfect pot, and on our travels we discovered this garden center in Darien. The Gardener’s Center and Florist has such beautiful flowers outside, and inside they have tons of plant accessories, succulents, and a florist! I will definitely be making my way here for more plants and succulents in the very near future.
Hello, breakfast sandwiches! Uncle’s Deli is known for their oversized sandwiches, and I can attest that they are just that! We went here for breakfast last Sunday, and I am pretty sure the rest of town did too! I had an egg and cheese on a bagel and it was just what I was looking for. Definitely can’t wait to go back and check out some of their lunch offerings.
