A little over a month ago I was asked to partner with Pure Barre Greenwich and honestly I was VERY excited. I’d taken a couple Pure Barre classes at other studios in the area, but I never fully committed to attending multiple classes a week. One of my goals for my partnership with Pure Barre Greenwich was to attend 2-3 classes a week (they recommend taking 3-4 classes a week to see the best results) so I could try my best to really master the technique.
For those of you who have never taken a Pure Barre class, it’s a workout that focuses on a combination tiny movements to target specific areas of the body – namely arms, abs, thighs and your seat (butt, booty lol). Basically, it’s full-body workout designed to focus on the areas that women tend to struggle with the most. With that in mind, and as someone who likes to run as their main form of exercise, I was drawn to Pure Barre Greenwich as a way to incorporate strength and toning (emphasis on toning!!) exercises into my routine.
My Experience
First off, I absolutely loved my experience at Pure Barre Greenwich. Sometimes I find myself intimidated by a group workout class, but from the minute I walked in the door the staff could not have been more friendly. Ashley, the owner of Pure Barre Greenwich, is so sweet, knowledgeable and passionate, and her whole team is equally as amazing. I am not going to lie, my first couple of classes were rough. Although I had taken classes in the past, I completely forgot how intense these classes can be!
The class starts off with a warm up then goes right into weighted arm exercises and planks before moving to the barre. The barre is where the small isometric movements take place. These small movements are so targeted that you will begin to shake – literally your muscles are at the point of fatigue and start shaking! The shake is a good thing though because that, in combination with the stretching involved in the class (I’ll touch on this more in a little bit), helps to lengthen and elongate your muscles!
Once I got through my first couple of classes, all of the moves started coming more naturally to me. The instructors at Pure Barre Greenwich are also great at helping you to adjust your form in-class so you know you’re doing everything correctly. Once I felt like I had a better grasp on my form, I started to really enjoy the workout. I could feel my muscles working harder than they had in months (literally lol), and I felt great after every class. I mentioned the stretching aspect of class a little bit earlier, but low key this was one of my favorite parts of the workout. I absolutely loooved stretching after each strength session and especially all of the stretching at the end of class. I’m not a very flexible person, but after only a couple weeks I noticed a difference in my overall flexibility.
Another part of the Pure Barre workout that I found myself really enjoying was all of the ab work. From planks in the beginning to crunches/twists on the mat, I really felt like my abs got put to work every single class! In addition to the barre, a class at Pure Barre Greenwich also involves some weights like I mentioned earlier, a tube and a small ball. All of these tools are used throughout the workout and help with toning, stretching and strengthening!
I can’t say enough good things about this workout, and it’s one that I would love to try and take at least once or twice a week. If you’re local to Fairfield County, Pure Barre Greenwich right off Exit 3 on Route 95. As someone who works in the area, I can say that even after work during rush hour I never had trouble getting to the studio because the location is so convenient. Another postive — you can book classes right from your phone using the Pure Barre app! That’s what I used to schedule my classes throughout my partnership and it was an absolute breeze!
If you’re interested in checking out Pure Barre Greenwich they were awesome enough to give me a discount code to share with my followers. Use the code PUREBARREWITHEMILY for $20 off their Intro Month! I hope to see some of you there š
