Styling Black and Blue

Two of my favorite colors to wear are black and navy blue – not only separately (as seen here and here), but at the same time! While most people are totally okay with wearing these two colors on their own, they tend to shy away from styling them together. I feel like I get asked quite frequently whether or not it’s okay to mix black with blue and my answer is always yes! Although there are tons of blue shades to pair with black, my personal favorite is navy. I think the combination of the two come together to create a very chic and classic look.

I paired my favorite navy pants of the moment from Loft with a super cozy sweater from J.Crew and mules from Banana Republic. This sweater from J.Crew is probably one of my favorite sweaters that I’ve bought this season. It runs a little big which I kind of like, but you can definitely size down if you want it to fit more true to size. I also bought this sweater in the madrid olive color and I’ve been living in both. It goes on sale almost every week so be sure to keep an eye out for it! Did I mention it has pockets?!

I love the tuxedo detail on these pants and I’m not kidding when I say that they are so comfortable. I think this might be the first pair of pants that I bought from Loft, but I seriously love them. I also like them because they are perfect for the office. I love wearing fun pants to work and these definitely fit the bill. Here I paired them with these amazing navy and black velvet bow flats, but they also look great with heels (these pants are the perfect length!!). Side note I think these flats are sold out online but I’ve seen them in-stock in a few Banana Republic stores.

All in all, don’t be afraid of mixing black with blue. I feel like this look borders on monochrome but what makes it interesting is that it’s not! This is definitely a go-to winter color combo for me and I hope this look inspires you to give it a try!
