Five Face Masks to Help Bring Your Skin Back to Life

Ah post-holiday season/winter skin…

If the indulgences of the last month or so have caught up with you, and your skin, this post is most certainly for you. Or, if the colder weather is starting to wreak havoc on your skin, this post is ALSO for you.

For me, the eating, drinking, late nights and crazy travel associated with the holidays has caught up with me in more ways than one, and you can see it (literally) on my face.

To help combat this, I’ve been relying on the five face masks below to help bring my skin back to life. From dehydration to dullness, I feel like I can trust these five products to help me get my face back to normal whenever it needs a reset.

One // Drunk Elephant T.L.C. Sukari Babyfacial

Overview

There’s a reason you see this face mask from Drunk Elephant everywhere, and it’s because it’s AMAZING. This product is truly like an at-home facial. With 25% AHA and a 2% BHA blend (glycolic, tartaric, lactic, citric, and salicylicacids), this mask works to smooth skin while minimizing pores, wrinkles and fine lines. Additionally, this mask is packed with antioxidants that help to reduce dullness, exfoliate and soothe skin.

How I Use

I use this mask once a week (I also included this mask when I shared my full skin care routine post on the blog here). If you follow me on Instagram you might be familiar with me storying this product on Sundays. I love using it on Sunday nights to get my skin right for the week ahead. I will up my usage of this face mask to twice a week if I feel like my skin is breaking out or just needs a boost. This product is pretty strong, so I love using a face oil (a mini Drunk Elephant face oil comes with this mask when you purchase it) or my Summer Friday’s Jet Lag Mask (#3 on this list) after I rinse off this mask for some extra hydration.

My Review

Immediately after using this product my skin looks smoother, brighter, clearer and tighter. The morning after I use this product, I wake up and look like I just got a facial. I seriously can’t rave about this product enough. I’ve purchased this face mask multiple times now, and can honestly say it’s one of the skincare products I can’t live without. I know it’s a little bit pricey, but if you use it once a week this product does last quite a long time!

TWO // Kate Somerville ExfoliKate Intensive Exfoliating Treatment

Overview

Made up of lactic acid and fruit enzymes, this product will reveal brighter, smoother skin after two minutes! It also helps to deep clean pores.

How I Use

I use this product once a week or whenever I feel like my skin needs a good deep clean/exfoliating treatment.

My Review

I am a big fan of Kate Somerville products. I use her ExfoliKate Cleaner Daily Foaming Wash to wash my face every day. I like this mask because it immediately makes my skin feel cleaner, brighter and smoother. You have to be careful because if you leave this product on too long you might see some redness after rinsing it off. After using, my skin feels very soft and smooth.

THREE // Summer Friday’s Jet Lag Mask

Overview

With a combination of vitamins, ceramides, antioxidants and anti-inflammatory ingredients, this mask works to hydrate, de-puff and soothe skin. This mask also fights dullness.

How I Use

I use this mask in a few different ways. Sometimes I use it as a true mask following the directions on the packaging, and sometimes I use it as an overnight cream. I like using this product as a night cream instead of as a mask whenever my skin is feeling really dull or dehydrated. I will also use this mask on my under eye area while I’m getting ready if I feel like my eyes are puffy or I have dark circles. When using this mask that way, I let it sink into my skin under my eyes while I do my hair and then I put my makeup over it.

My Review

I love this product. This is the second time I’ve bought it and my skin looks so much more hydrated when I use it. When I use it as a night cream I wake up with super hydrated skin that looks and feels amazing. When I use it as a mask I feel like I can see my skin become less puffy and dull. In addition to using this at home, I also use it on long flights or overnight flights. The best part about this product is that it was made for travel, so it’s the perfect size for your carry on (and TSA).

FOUR // Dr. Jart+ Dermask Water Jet Vital Hydra Solution

Overview

This sheet mask is perfect for redness and dryness. Using a combination of ingredients, including hyaluronic acid and algae, this mask helps keep skin moisturized and looking fresh.

How I Use

I will pick up this mask at Sephora whenever I feel like my skin needs an extra dose of hydration, and follow the instructions on the package. Pro tip: save the remaining serum in the mask package and use on your face the next day for some extra hydration!

My Review

I have tried a ton of sheet masks in my day, and I keep going back to this one for hydration. I love using this one at night before bed so I wake up with super hydrated skin.

FIVE // Fresh Rose Face Mask

Overview

This face mask works to hydrate and soothe the skin. With ingredients like cucumber extract, rosewater and aloe, this mask helps skin to feel calm, cool, moisturized and refreshed.

How I Use

I use this mask when my skin is painfully dry (hello winter skin). It smells as good as it feels, so I like to put this mask on, lay down and relax for 10 minutes. Sometimes I like to put this mask in the refrigerator prior to using it to amplify the cooling effects.

My Review

After using this face mask my skin definitely looks more hydrated and supple. If I was noticing redness prior to using this mask, it is almost always reduced once I rinse this mask off. My favorite part about this mask is the cooling sensation it provides. It really feels amazing on the skin, especially if you put it in the refrigerator prior to use!

Do you use any of these masks already? If not, what are some of your favorite masks to use when you’re skin needs a boost?
