Life Lately No. 1

I’ve seen a few bloggers do this and I think it’s a fun way to share some of what’s been going on in my life lately. Most of what I do on the blog revolves around style, but when I think about what I like to read on other blogs, a lot of the time it’s the more personal posts. I’m excited to start this new series as way to share a little bit more!

Here you’ll find iPhone photos I’ve taken the last couple of weeks, recipes I’m loving, job updates, travel plans, pretty much everything you can think of. While I don’t have specific parameters around this series, I want this to be a place where I can share whatever I’m feeling, doing, loving, watching, eating, etc., etc.

First up, Bill and I just booked a trip to Nantucket to celebrate our four year anniversary. We had originally planned to celebrate in Mexico City on the tail end of my work trip there later this month, but something came up and we had to switch gears. I’ve never been to Nantucket (as a Jersey girl we went down the shore…) and I’m looking forward to it so much! We’re going for a long weekend in July (Thursday-Sunday), so if you have any recommendations please send them my way!

Emily Lucille Life Lately Courtney's Bridal Shower

Saturday afternoon we threw my friend Courtney’s bridal shower. Courtney lives in the city and we were able to host the shower on her beautiful rooftop. The food was catered by Eataly (highly recommend!) and I’m pretty sure I ate my body weight in pizza. It was seriously the best day and we had so much fun. I can’t wait to stand by her side as her MOH this September.

Emily Lucille Life Lately New Restaurant Kouzina in Stamford

The most adorable Greek restaurant, Kouzina, just opened up in Stamford and I am embarssingly excited. Stamford desperately needs some new good restaurants and this place fits the bill. We went on Friday night and it was packed. The food was delicious (get the spicy feta dip) and the atmosphere is great. Bonus, they have a good tequila and rosé selection. Bill (who originally claimed that he didn’t like Greek food) and I are both big fans.

A couple of weeks ago we went to the PGA Championship at Bethpage Black. I can’t believe I’ve been dating Bill for four years and this is the first golf tournament I’ve been to. I knew I would have a blast and I 100% did. I can’t wait to go to more. We went with my dad and all three of us agreed that it truly was a great day. Also, I think this is the summer that I actually learn how to play golf — stay tuned.

THIS RECIPE. I’m by no means a food photographer, but seriously this Honey Mustard Grilled Salmon with Avocado Basil Sauce recipe by Half Baked Harvest might be one of the best things I’ve ever cooked. There are so many good flavors and everything comes together perfectly. Bill and I were both obsessed. I’m making it again tonight!

Emily Lucille Life Lately Hat Attack

Just wanted to introduce you guys to the hat you’ll be seeing me in all summer. This hat was part of my recent Hat Attack Instagram giveaway, and I pretty much haven’t taken it off since. I’ve said this hundreds of times before but Hat Attack is my favorite brand for hats and straw bags (recently seen here and here). Their products never disappoint.

Emily Lucille Life Lately Body Love Book

For those of you who follow on Instagram, I really wanted to love intermittent fasting. I tried to make it work with my schedule but was struggling to be consistent. I love the idea behind it, and maybe I’ll eventually try it again, but in the meantime I needed something new.

A few days ago I bought Body Love by Kelly LeVeque and I’m feeling good about it. I’ve followed Kelly on Instagram for years, and I love the idea behind her Fab Four (protein, fat, fiber and greens) smoothies. I’m looking forward to making some of the changes she outlines in her book to my diet. I’m starting with the Fab Four smoothies this week and I’ll be sharing the recipes I make on Instagram.
